Getting Started with Printing

With the GT Backend, you can print shelf labels, customer statements, invoices and quotes and order pick lists that are customized to your company. GlobalTill gets you started with a set of default templates that we find work for many of our customers, but if you're interested in learning how to customize further you can do via one of two types of templates:

  • Visual editor based templates. These are part of GlobalTill's new template system. The visual editor is a convenient tool that lets customers visually design templates using a drag-and-drop editor. Get started with the visual editor here.
  • Microsoft Word based templates. These are part of GlobalTill's legacy template system. While we have no plans to discontinue Microsoft Word based templates, we recommend you use the visual editor unless you have a specific reason not to. Learn to customize a MS Word based template here.

Frequently asked questions

  1. How can I tell the difference between Visual editor and Microsoft Word templates in the GT Backend?
On the Template Listing page (Settings > Advanced > Template Manager), you'll see a legend that denotes the type of the template. With Microsoft Word based templates the name of the template provides a URL to download the template file. With visual editor templates, there is no link but you'll see a pencil next to the name to allow you to launch the visual editor.
